Climate Change & Environmental Health

Talk Climate: Talking about climate in our schools, homes, communities, and workplaces is one of the most important climate actions we can take. This website is for everyone (young people, caregivers, and professionals) who want to learn how to have productive, courageous, and empowering conversations about climate change. Our resources are age-appropriate, emotionally-responsive, and designed to empower people to build emotional and interpersonal capacity for facing the climate era. We use a care and repair approach to center equity and justice, as shared in our Core Values.

The Sierra Club is the most enduring and influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States. We amplify the power of our 3.8 million members and supporters to defend everyone’s right to a healthy world.

Sierra Club BC inspires British Columbians to value nature and to defend it. Sierra Club BC focuses on children and youth to foster environmental literacy and to encourage the environmental leaders of tomorrow.

Climate Mobilization Project is a U.S.-based group that develops cutting-edge policy ideas and organizing strategies for addressing the Climate Emergency through a WWII-scale Climate Mobilization response in the United States and internationally.

Union of Concerned Scientists:
The Union of Concerned Scientists is a national nonprofit organization founded more than 50 years ago by scientists and students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

National Children’s Campaign:
Mission: A national, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that serves as a catalyst to inspire and empower America to make children a priority by promoting health, education, safety, economic and environmental security through the power of media, grassroots, internet partnerships, business and community leaders, celebrities and subject matter experts.
Commercial Free Childhood & Screen Time

Fairplay Childhood Beyond Brands educates the public about commercialism’s impact on kids’ wellbeing and advocates for the end of child-targeted marketing.

The Children’s Screen Time Action Network is a coalition of practitioners, educators, and advocates working to promote a healthy childhood by reducing the amount of time kids spend with digital devices.

The Stop Marketing to Kids (Stop M2K) Coalition by the Heart & Stroke Foundation in collaboration with the Childhood Obesity Foundation, is working to restrict the marketing of unhealthy food and beverages to Canadian children under the age 13.
ENDING CORPORAL PUNISHMENT OF CHILDREN

Corinne’s Quest is a campaign working to end physical punishment of children in Canada.
UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

International Institute for Child Rights and Development (IICRD) Their purpose is to build respect for children’s inherent human dignity, nurture their sense of belonging, and reinforce justice at all levels through the implementation of strengths-based approaches to child rights.
Continuing Education for Parents, Caregivers, and Educators

The Neufeld Institute Their mission is to use developmental science to help adults understand the real needs of children. They offer over 20 courses to parents, teachers and helping professionals via online continuing education, facilitated video courses, and onsite events.
